It appears to me that there is a disconnect between the Christ we evangelicals proclaim and the raggedy lives we live behind closed doors. How innocuous our testimony is in a culture that is slitting its own wrists with perversion and blind permissiveness. One of my dearest “sista from anotha mista” friends on the planets bemoans the lack of “Jesus” in Christians schools. In her estimation, there is virtually no difference between some Christian high schools and the worst public school you can think of.
But that makes perfect sense to me. After all, that sad reality is that there are some churches so Christ-deprived in spirit and in truth that a country club cookout is more likely to be redemptive than such churches.
I wonder what Francis Schaeffer would write if he were alive today.
